Education:

 He graduated from the journalist department of the Kazakh national university n.a. S.M. Kirov (1980), journalist, academy of the Academy of journalism of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2001).  

Professional experience:

• In 1980-1986 he is the personal correspondent of the Kazakh New Agency in Turgai, Karaganda oblasts.
• In 1986-1989 deputy chief editor of the oblast newspaper “Industrial Karaganda”.
• In 1989-1991 and 1994-1996 he is the personal correspondent of the newspaper “Izvestia” in Kazakhstan.
• In 1991- 1993 he is the press-secretary of the President of the republic of Kazakhstan.
• In 1993-1994 he is the press-secretary of the Prime-minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
• From May 1996 – president of the National press-club.
• From February 2001 – president of the board of Journalists union of Kazakhstan.

• From December 2002 – chairman of the Public council on mass-media under the president of Kazakhstan, counsellor to the President.

He is also the founder of KazTAG.
